Supporting each other drop the bulge

What's muffin top?

  • Muffin top is slang for that bulging roll of fat that oozes over the top of your jeans (pants) waistband because your gut is getting larger than your jeans. Instead of saying "diet" or "weight loss", be gone with muffin top sounded lighter and humorous. Join me in my journey to banish my muffin top.

Whole Foods tip on beating farts

This is fucking hilarious. Whole Foods has a page on their website that gives you tips on how to "Defeat Flatulence" when you eat beans. I kid you not. Those kids over at Whole Foods are so considerate. They are concerned about our well being, and of course farting is a big problem with certain foods. I dare them to say "FART". It's tips on "Defeating Farts." And, say it like you mean it...LOL....

Liposuction sounds so dreamy

The only part of my body that I really have issues with is my gut and waist. I'm an apple, so all the fat goes straight to the middle. On my body, it's the HARDEST fat of them all to burn. Even when I've gotten into my skinny jeans, I still have a gut. Sometimes the idea of just sucking the fat right out sounds real exciting. It would be so easy.

But, at the end of the day, it also sounds really violent to the body. I mean all that sucking and slurping. Sounds so brutal to the delicate ecosystem of the body. I'd like to have a flat tummy, but not at the cost of suction. Guess I'll just have to keep it to me fantasies.

Week 3: measuring

So, here's this week's numba's:

Chest:        no change
Waist:       goodbye 1/2"
Gut:          goodbye 1/2"
Hips:        goodbye 1/2"
Thighs:    no change
Weight:    goodbye 2.8 lbs

Doing a drop of about 1 pound a week. This is real awesome considering there is almost no exercise. The weight drop is due mostly to menu changes, and the digestive enzymes. I know I have to get on the exercise.

Weighed myself in the middle of the week

Normally, I only weigh in on Monday's, but the other day, the gut was looking leaner so I decided to just jump on the scale. I dropped .8 lbs. That's great considering, I haven't done much in terms of exercise.

Actually, I've done zero, when it comes to exercise. I have noticed though that since I've been taking the digetive enzymes, I've been dropping bigger loads in the toilet. Yes graphic! I guess the digestive enzymes are helping my body process the food better, so it doesn't have to hang out in my colon as long.

Fascinating poopy information...lol...

Damn Janet

Covopt Oh my gawd!! Girlfriend has dropped 60 lbs in 4 months, and in that time also turned 40. Janet looks amazing in this cover, and I am insanely jealoous. But then a little bug in my head is also asking: how much photo retouching was done, because we ALL know that cover shots are ALWAYS manipulated. And second, that is A LOT of lbs to deop in a short time. Was there any lipo and diet pill popping going on? Of course she says it was all menus and exercise, plus having a trainer yell at you to get your buttay moving helps too.

Honestly, it is easier to get rid of the muffin top when you have the money to pay professionals to help you. I know because when I had lots of money I was able to have a trainer, go to detox spas, and hire a natural chef cook food for me. It was heaven and I did drop a good amount of fat.

Midnight munchies

It's midnight and I just ate a small piece of cold spinach/feta/tomato pizza, and a few handfuls of Whole Foods popcorn and a sip or two of Diet Coke. The only explaination for the munchie is boredom.

I had a big dinner tonight in the city. My BFF and I went to North Beach and tried this new restaurant, Panta Rei. It's at Columbus @ Stockton. Oh my goodness. I got the Tres Paste dish, and my friend had the lasagne. It was heaven. We also had the added bonus of sitting at an open window seat.

No meat. I've been eating mostly vegetarian lately. I'm finding that meat makes me feel heavy and sleepy, so I've been cutting down. After dinner, we went next door to have mochas and a piece of Apple torte. We split the dessert. We walked around North Beach a bit so I felt good that at least I got some exercise in.

I know I'm not helping my muffin top demolition with the pasta, and dessert but I want to enjoy the flavors of food too. I ate 3/4 of my dish, and ate 4 bites of the torte. I got the taste without eating the whole thing.

Here's the view from the cafe:

Sauteed pears with Caramel sauce

Pear_w_caramel For dessert tonight, I used a recipe from The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook.

Sauteed bananas with Caramel Sauce. I replaced bananas with Bosc pears. Bananas are super high in sugar, so I picked another fruit that isn't as high in sugar content. I also replaced the milk with rice milk. I'm avoiding milk with the exception of my Starbucks mochas....hmmm....

Lastly, this recipe called for raisins, but I replaced that with toasted walnuts. I love nuts, and thought the walnuts would cut down on all the sugary sensations between the fruit, honey, and brown sugar.

This dessert would have been even more amazing with vanilla bean ice cream, but we chose to skip the extra sugar and fat.

Halibut with brocoli and tomato, roasted red pepper soup

Dinner_5_22_06_1 I decided that I am going to make dinner more interesting, so I bought some cookbooks. In Back in Skinny Jeans, I talked about not using the word "diet" any more. The word depresses me. Instead, we'll use the phrase, "I'm on a menu." Now that makes eating, during the muffin top demolition, sound more fun.

When I cook, I like to be creative. I'll start out with a base recipe and change some of the ingredients. Tonight for dinner, I used The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook. These are the recipes I used:

  • Asparagus with Hazelnut Gremolata. I replaced Asparagus with baby broccoli from Trader Joes, and replaced the parsley with marjoram. I can't stand parsley ;-(
  • For soup, I got the Trader Joe's Tomato with Roasted Red Pepper soup, and then added some black pepper, about 8 shakes of Tabasco sauce, and two grabs of Whole Foods Shredded 3-cheese blend:fontina, Parmesan, and asagio.
  • For the fish, I used Whole Foods frozen Halibut. Fresh fish at WF is real yummy, but real expensive, so I got the frozen steaks. It was equally dee-lish. I breaded the fish with cornmeal, flour, hazelnuts from the Broccoli recipe, and some Whole Foods Shredded 3-cheese blend. I sauteed the fish in canola oil and a pat of Plugra European Style salted butter. I really love the flavor and texture of this butter. Again, all Whole Foods stuff.

Tonight's dinner was fantastic, and quick to make. Portions were small but filling.

Week 2: body measurements

Today, I was going to completely blow off the measuring because of being canned from the job and flow coming to town. But, comittments are commitments, and I did it. Surprisingly, I only went up 1/2 pound from the previous week, and I lost 1/4" from my gut, so it turned out good afterall. Losing inches.

Chest:        no change
Waist:       goodbye 1/4"
Gut:          goodbye 1/4"
Hips:        no change
Thighs:    no change
Weight:    goodbye 1 lbs

I did not go to the gym once last week. Because of getting axed, I did cut down on eats a few days because I was feeling depressed. Usually when I'm depressed I'll pig out, but this time I just didn't feel like munching.

Not so hungry

Since the canning on wed, I have not really been hungry. The appetite is dull, but I have been eating. I told my parents today about getting weed whacked. I waited a couple days because they worry too much. I mean they are going to worry still, but at least, I'm not highly emotional.

I spent yesterday boo-hooing to let the rage, anger, hurt, disappoint, disgust, pain, and whatever emotion wanted to come out, be out. I find that if you let yourself have an amotional day right after a painful event, everyone lets you, and your healing process is much faster. Better to scream, beat the pillow, and kick the punching bag now than months or years from now.
