Karl Lagerfeld loses 80 pounds in a year, and becomes a smug skinny. Those obnoxious Guido glasses on Karl are actually reality distortion lenses. You see his couture super powers are the result of specially made ocular gems which turn twig waifs into beautiful catwalk swans.
See. Karl can't see what we see because the glasses make him see what his distorted psyche needs him to see. It also makes him say hairbrained things like:
"We don't see anorexic (girls). The girls are skinny. They have skinny bones."
Asked whether the fashion industry was to blame for eating disorders of
many young girls who were starving themselves, the designer said: "No,
that is something to sell papers."
Lagerfeld said the rise in the number of overweight people in many countries was a problem. "In a country like France, with 18 percent of girls in the (northern
region of) Pas de Calais being too fat -- I think they needed more
treatment than the zero-point-I-don't-know percent of the too skinny
ones," he said.
So girls are starving themselves and barfing because they want to help the newspapers sell more copies. The problem isn't that the girls are skinny. It's that they are so skinny that all we see is their bones.
